Frontiers Membership

For 2024

JLU has made an arrangement with Frontiers for a centralized monthly billing for all published articles. In addition, a discount of 7,5 % is granted on the article processing charges in Frontiers journals. A discount of 10% applies to items for which central billing has been agreed between the University Library and Frontiers from 01 August 2023.

If you have published an article with Frontiers and it is listed on the monthly invoice, we will contact you and request a JLU cost center / project number, from which the corresponding author's share of the article processing charges should be paid.

If the article processing charges are less than 2.000 €, the OA publication fund will cover 50% of the costs; if the charges are above 2.000 €, the publication fund will pay 1.000 € (incl. VAT). For junior scientists in their PhD process or with a PhD-graduation that is not older than five years, the OA publication fund will cover 75% of the costs and a maximum of 1.500 €.

In order for your article to be billed via the monthly invoice, please enter JLU as the first affiliation when submitting and use your JLU e-mail address (if available). Then please select Justus Liebig University as the payer (see image below). If you nevertheless receive an invoice, please do not pay it, but send it to us by e-mail. We will then clarify further payment with Frontiers.
