05/06/2024 | Workshops for tutors: Innovative teaching with AI tools

The Tutors’ Qualification Program at JLU is designed to train students who lead tutorial courses or study groups equipping them with the skills to effectively convey subject knowledge using  best teaching practices and techniques. This program supports participants in their initial teaching experience by helping them to enhance their didactical, communicational and intercultural skills, and introducing them to innovative teaching strategies. This semester, we have organised three courses that concentrate on a current “hot topic” in teaching: the integration of Artificial Intelligence tools into their tutorial courses.

The Innovatives Lehren und Lernen: KI-Tools and AI in Tutoring: Basic Principles and Teaching Practices workshops are practical sessions providing a comprehensive introduction to the basic concepts of Artificial Intelligence and its potential role in tutorials. We will explore key AI technologies, their impacts, benefits, and limitations, with a focus on ethical and scientific considerations. Through practical demonstrations and discussions, participants will gain experience and insights needed to integrate AI tools into their own teaching practices.

In the workshop Academic Writing, we will explore the intersection of ChatGPT and academic writing. The main aim of this session is to provide participants with fundamental skills regarding the use of AI tools as writing aids. Participants interested in this topic should not miss this opportunity to gain insight into how established practices in writing didactics can benefit from the support of advanced technology.
