This intermediate course is designed for doctoral candidates who are already working on their dissertation projects as affiliates of Faculty 03: Cultural and Social Sciences. The course consists of two parts: In the first part, it aims to provide a space for doctoral candidates to reflect on the ongoing process of their individual research projects, focusing on issues such as project design, gaps and/or excesses in the theoretical framework, methodological challenges, project schedule and organization of the writing process. The course aims to discuss common challenges and potential strategies, coupled with individual reflection exercises and structured feedback. The second part of the course, on January 20, 2025, will cover further issues related to the doctoral project such as situating one’s work in the academic field, publishing, presenting one’s work/profile, networking as part of one’s research activity. It is suggested that participants send the following to the instructor by November 25, 2024: 

  • Title & table of contents of the dissertation project (max. 3 pages)
  • Brief answers to the following questions: (1)What would you most like to discuss in this course regarding your doctoral project? (2) Which of the points mentioned in the course description are of most interest to you and relate to the current challenges and needs of your dissertation project?
