Abstract:
The seminar is centered on reactions of enediynes leading to diradicals with particular focus on the Bergman and Myers-Saito cyclizations underlying the mechanism of biological activity of enediyne natural products. Factors affecting reactivity of enediynes will be discussed. Topics will span the range from effects of tunneling to design of therapeutic enediynes with improved selectivity towards DNA cleaving in cancerous cells.
