Research projects

The agroforestry systems at the Gladbacherhof have been subject to scientific monitoring since the beginning. They offer a great potential to investigate ecological and economic performance in the temperate climate zone in a practice-oriented approach. The foundations for the work were laid in 2020 with the Agroforestry Systems Hesse I project. The three agroforestry systems GH1-GH3 were established and a research infrastructure was created. The follow-up project Agroforestry Systems Hesse II will expand this further.

The agroforestry systems are enjoying lively interest in practice and research. A number of research projects have been using this infrastructure since 2024. Numerous practitioners and interested parties visit the various systems every year to learn about the latest developments and experiences.
