Information for Parents

How to get information on all relevant studies

In our department we do research on many different questions with different age groups. While our youngest participants are just 3 months old, the oldest are already in their teens. If you register with us without obligation via our contact form, we can inform you in good time when we are conducting studies with children your child's age:

Here you will find our contact form.

You are also very welcome to contact us by phone or email to find out about our studies. However, in order to include your address in our address list, we need your consent in the contact form.

  • Telephone: 0641-99-26003 (messages are recorded on the answering machine)
  • E-mail: kognitive-entwicklung@psychol.uni-giessen.de

Please leave your child's date of birth and name. This will enable us to assign your message to the appropriate staff member.

Would you like to participate in a study with your child?

Registered families receive invitation letters as soon as we conduct a suitable study. In the invitation letter you will find the information for test persons for the respective study - here you will receive more detailed information about the respective study and the exact procedure of the study. This will give you time to decide whether you would like to take part in the study. You can directly

  • register yourself to take part in the study as described above via the contact form, telephone or e-mail
(add in the contact form as a remark the name of the study you would like to participate in) or
  • we can contact you via the telephone number/mail address you have given us.

We will then arrange an appointment that suits you. Of course, we will also answer any questions you may still have about the study!

Your consent to study participation

In order for us to be able to process the data that is collected from your child as part of a study participation, we need your written consent. Take your time and read through how we process this data and what this means for you.

Here you can find the consent form for study participation here!

When you visit us, we will ask you to sign this consent for study participation in advance.

What happens during a visit?

For most of our studies, there is only one appointment and the session lasts only about 30 minutes. We use several different well established methods depending on the goal of the study and the age of your child. Of course all of our studies are designed to be fun and engaging for the participating children. Every child receives a gift and a certificate as a means of thanking you and your child for participating and contributing to our research. Of course parents are allowed to sit in on the sessions all the time.

→ Here you can find more information about our research projects!!

Where can you get information about the study results?

It always takes some time until a study is completed: For meaningful results, many families have to visit us first. The data is then analysed - often in a very time-consuming way. And finally, the results have to be scientifically classified and summarised in a publication.

We have set up a page where you can find out about the current status of the study in which you and your child participated (and also about all other studies!).

Here you can find our study results!
