Research Assistant (m/f/d)
for the Department of Biology and Chemistry
with a research focus on inorganic chemistry

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled for a fixed term at the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry (Prof. Dr Klaus Müller-Buschbaum), Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry at the Department of Biology and Chemistry. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension for up to another 2 years is possible under the above-mentioned condition.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Own academic and university didactic qualification (doctorate), academic services in research and teaching in accordance with § 72 HessHG
  • Assumption of teaching duties in accordance with the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hesse
  • Own scientific training in the field of synthesis and characterisation of metal organic frameworks as materials in energy storage and conversion, e.g. in post-Li batteries
  • Co-operation with other research groups, some of which are not based at the site
  • Documentation and publication of the results
  • Organising internships at the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry
  • Supervision of advanced students in own research area

Your qualifications and competences

  • Completed scientific university degree in chemistry (Msc or diploma)
  • Very good knowledge of inorganic solid-state or coordination chemistry, preferably also of the material chemistry of ion-conducting materials
  • Ideally good knowledge of inorganic synthesis and analysis methods (e.g. reactions in solution, under solvothermal conditions and in the inert atmosphere, analytical work in the field of spectroscopy and sorption)
  • As part of your research project, an intensive scientific exchange with scientists from abroad is necessary. This requires a very good command of English, excellent communication skills, an interest in interdisciplinary issues and a willingness to travel
