Tenure Track Professors
Besides the customary responsibilities of holding a professorship, JLU tenure track professors fulfill further tasks which result from their type of position and its procedure. Tenure track professors prove their academic capability by pursuing the negotiated goals of their appointment target agreement, prepare for their annual status conversations with the deans and members of the presidium, and provide information on their probation progress for a preliminary as well as a final evaluation with a self-report. This report includes the areas of research, teaching, promotion of junior academics, further academic engagement, and their own development of competencies.
The central starting point of the tenure track procedure is the appointment agreement . This agreement consists of individual goals in the areas of teaching and research, promotion of junior scientists, academic engagement and personal competency development. In order to evaluate the development of the tenure track professors, a double-staged evaluation system is in place, consisting of one evaluation after approximately 30 and another after approximately 60 months.
Regarding the group of tenure track professors, Justus Liebig University has developed an ideal goal profile which is closely oriented towards the overarching human resource development goals “competence” and “motivation”. They will receive individual support by the respective dean, their mentors (optional) as well as the tenure track support program . Apart from that, tenure track professors are able to make use of all further offers and supporting structures of Justus Liebig University in the area of academic human resource development .
