Pascal Mangold (Mangold International GmbH): Multimodal Data Collection and Analysis in Observational Research
The aim of this seminar is to deepen your understanding of analysis concepts and techniques that will help you collect and interpret multimodal data. It will explore innovative technology, technical aspects, and methods, and discuss their applications.
Furthermore, the course will examine the diverse range of data types and sources, while also introducing attendees to the tools utilized in multimodal data collection and analysis. It will demonstrate methods for identifying relations in such data, which may only become visible after combining the data sets.

André Pietsch and Christian Krippes (Justus Liebig University Gießen): Beginners' workshop Git and GitLab
The distributed version control system Git, in combination with GitLab, enables the effective management of codes and projects in teams and facilitates cooperations. In this workshop you will learn basics you need to get started on working with Git and GitLab, as well as to continue working independently.
Learning objectives:
- Basics of versioning
- What is Git?
- Git basics (commits, hashes, branches)
- Using Git correctly: Important commands (including practical exercises)
- What is GitLab?
- GitLab basics (login, users, project structure)
- Collaboration via GitLab (including practical exercises)
Target group:
- Everybody who wants to work with Git and GitLab can participate; the workshop does not require any prior knowledge.
Technical requirements:
- You will need a laptop on which you can install software, as well as the software Visual Studio Code (VSCode) and Git for your respective operating system.
- In order to gain some time for practical exercises during the workshop, we would kindly ask you to carry out the installations beforehand. We would be happy to discuss any problems or questions at the workshop.

For our young members, we are offering a workshop on academic writing as part of the EPSY. The goal of the workshop is to learn about various publication strategies and gain practical experience in writing scientific publications. This includes, for example, learning strategies for effectively and convincingly presenting one's own research findings.
