For all our new members in this year’s GCSC and IPP cohorts – and by extension our visiting researchers – let’s get to know each other better! Kick-starting your work at the centre, our new cohorts traditionally depart for a small adventure. During the Opening Workshop you will not only get the opportunity to learn more about your fellow doctoral researchers and their projects or acquaint yourself with future research routines at our centre. You will also convene in a real castle with some school trip vibes, including a joint bus journey and sleepover. At Rauischholzhausen Castle, the former university-owned castle close to Giessen’s neighboring city Marburg is a beautiful event venue that we will explore together.

During some creative project presentations, you will have the chance to present yourself and your research beyond formal academic conventions – and receive feedback from your pals as well as the GCSC’s senior researchers. You will meet the members of the Executive Board, spend time with your cohort, and enjoy some fun activities in the castle cellar. For sure, we will make some time to explore the beautiful park around Rauischholzhausen Castle and treat ourselves to some good food.
