About the intensive courses
- Our intensive courses lead within one year in 6 steps from beginner level (A1) through levels A2, B1, B2, C1.1 and C1.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages to the DSH examination or TestDaF. These language exams serve as proof of language proficiency in order to study at a German university.
- The courses comprise 20 teaching units (UE) per week and last 6 - 8 weeks.
- It is possible to start at any level.
- 6 ECTS can be awarded per course.

The courses are designed for…
- applicants for a course of study
- individual students, exchange students (e.g. Erasmus+)
- doctoral students
- visiting researchers and their dependants
- employees and their dependants
… of Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) and the University of Applied Sciences Giessen (Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen – THM).
Individuals not included in those target groups can not participate.
Course program and fees
- The intensive courses run all year long, regardless of the term dates.
- They take place from Monday to Friday, either in the morning (08:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.) or in the afternoon (1:00 p.m. - 4:15p.m.) in our classrooms at Bismarckstraße 16.

Prospective students JLU
- In order to participate in the German intensive courses, you must first apply for the "Deutschkurs / German course" programme via the "uni-assist" portal. You can find further information on the checklist of documents required for the application as well as on the homepage of uni-assist.
- As soon as your application has been checked and confirmed by uni-assist, you can register for a course via the link below.
- Register
- Once you have successfully registered for a German course, you can obtain a certificate of registration on request.
Prospective students THM
- In order to be able to participate in the German intensive courses, you must first apply for the course of study "Deutschkurs / German course" via the portal "uni-assist". You can find further information on the checklist of documents required for the application as well as on the homepage of uni-assist. In order to apply to the THM (Studienkolleg, Bachelor, Master), you need at least a certificate for the language level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Applications below this level will not be accepted by uni-assist.

Please note: You can register for a course at the earliest 3 months before the course starts.
Payment

The course fee of € 100 is due upon confirmation of registration and is to be transferred to the account of Justus Liebig University Giessen no later than two weeks after receipt of the invoice. The remaining amount is due at the beginning of the course and is to be transferred within two weeks after the first course date. The timeliness of payment is determined by the receipt of the fee on the university account. Should a participant miss the payment or not make it within the stated deadline, he or she will be removed from the registration or participant list and will not be able to start the course.

Withdrawal from the study-preparatory German intensive courses is only possible before the start of the course with an administrative fee of € 100. In any case, the withdrawal must be declared in written form to the course office of the AAA.
