Scholarship Funds

Whether during your Bachelor's, Master's studies, or in the context of a doctorate, the Department of Classical Archaeology in Giessen offers various funding opportunities for young academics.

Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), Gießen

Our close ties to the GCSC provide opportunities for doctoral funding. Scholarships are announced annually in November, with the funding period beginning the following winter term (October).

Maria und Dr. Ernst Rink-Foundation

The Maria und Dr. Ernst Rink Foundation supports young academics in the Department of Classical Studies by providing grants for research and dissertation printing. Applications can be submitted year-round, and the Board of Trustees regularly makes decisions through a circulating procedure.

Dr. Dieter und Sigrun Neukirch-Foundation

The proceeds from the Dr. Dieter and Sigrun Neukirch Foundation may be used to support outstanding scholarly work (particularly dissertations and final theses from Master's and State Examination programs) in the fields of Archaeology, Classical Languages, and Geography at JLU.
