Topic
Normally, we talk about our students in higher education didactics workshops. In the series "Higher Education Didactics Vice Versa" it's different: we talk in direct dialogue with students! The workshop is led by two students of educational sciences and is open to all interested teachers and tutors. It provides insight into the theoretical and practical foundations of intercultural competence and the student perspective on it. What do students consider to be a learning and exciting event when the audience and/or a team of teachers is composed of different nationalities? And what needs to be considered for successful understanding and a fruitful learning process? International perspectives will also be presented. In addition, you will develop practical recommendations for action for your own teaching contexts and tutorials by working together on concrete case studies, which you are also welcome to bring in yourself.
The dates are: Thu, 03.11. and Thu, 10.11.22, each from 10-14h. The workshop parts belong together and cannot be booked individually. Between the two dates there will be a short task for self-study.
Learning Goals
- to name theoretical foundations of intercultural competence and to apply them reflectively to their own teaching contexts,
- reflect on methodological impulses for the design of intercultural teaching situations, and
- to assess student perspectives appropriately and to integrate them into the design of the teaching/learning process in a productive way.
This workshop can be credited with 8 units towards the certificate of the Hochschuldidaktisches Netzwerk Mittelhessen (HDM) in the topic area "Shaping Diversity".
