Topic

In the framework of a cooperation between the project Network for Impactful Digital Teaching Skills (NIDIT) and the International Doctoral Program (IPP) "Literary and Cultural Studies", NIDIT lecturers Inês Gamelas and Richard Vargas (International Training Team) will host the workshop “Basic Didactic Principles and Teaching Methods” for IPP members.

This practical training is a preparatory teaching session for participants of the IPP workshop series. The aim of this workshop is twofold. On the one hand, it puts forward the discussion of teaching methods and approaches as well as the implementation of interactive tools for teaching and learning processes that IPP participants can use on either digital or face-to-face teaching environments. On the other hand, this workshop seeks to broaden participants’ teaching skills to better prepare them to face potential challenges when teaching in different formats.

Learning Goals

Participants of this workshop will:

  • expand their understanding and use of basic didactic principles and teaching methods;
  • get acquainted with tips on how to conceive and elaborate teaching and learning objectives;

  • get a better understanding into planning and delivering as well as structuring a lesson by considering major teaching approaches;

  • know how to incorporate effective feedback that mirrors formative and on-going assessment in their workshop participants;

  • identify and examine critically digital tools to be used in diverse teaching scenarios;

  • get familiar with their own teaching and reflect on how to enhance it.
