During the bachelor's degree programme, you will deal with the interaction of health and exercise from a natural science and sports science perspective.
The bachelor's degree programme addresses the socially highly relevant topic of health from a scientific perspective and provides students with specific scientific and research methodological knowledge and competencies that enable them to promote a health-oriented lifestyle through exercise and sport on very different levels of society in a scientifically sound manner. Essential characteristics of the study programme are
- its scientific orientation
- its theoretical and research orientation, and
- the technical and content-related connection of course-related practical components with the theoretical training within many modules.
Prerequisites
There is no particular test of suitability for practical sport. Students should com with an enthusiasm about sports and exercise. A good knowledge of mathematical and scientific subjects and English (level B2) is required.

Composition of the study programme
The study programme is composed of the following modules:
- 24 compulsory modules (6 CP each)
- two elective modules (6 CP each)
- a professional internship (12 CP)
- a thesis module (12 CP)

- Societal determinants of exercise and health behavior
- Musculoskeletal system 1: Fundamentals
- Internal organs and cardiovascular system II: Pathophysiology of internal diseases
- Mind and Brain I: Fundamentals
3rd semester- Mind and Brain II: Movement Disorders
- Mind and Brain IIb: Psychopathologies
- Musculoskeletal System II: Orthopedics and Traumatology
- Nutritional Physiology
- Training II: Diagnostics
4th semester- Elective module I

- Professional field internship

Health certificate
When registering applicants must provide a doctor’s health certificate of their suitability for sport. The basic requirements for this certificate are the diagnostic procedures and criteria listed in the form "Certification of Suitability for Sport" (Bestätigung der Sporttauglichkeit). During the registration period this form is published on the webpage of the Sports Science Department, or can be found here.

English skills are required
Knowledge of English at level B2 is required, as the specialist literature is predominantly in English. However, formal proof is not required.

Career options / Job market
This course of study qualifies students for positions in institutions dealing with health (prevention, rehabilitation, sport of the handicapped), in sports clubs, in health management at the work place, sports groups and the sport and free time industry.
Among the possible positions are those concerned with the organization of medical preventative and rehabilitation measures, teaching activities, scientific work, consultant activities, project planning and supervision, publicity, moderation and mediation in the area of sports and movement culture.
