Courses of Study

Before submitting your application for admission, please make sure you have familiarized yourself with the content, admission requirements and possible subject combinations of the degree course(s) in question.

Application Prerequisites

Application Prerequisites

Language proficiency

You will have to show that you have acquired sufficient proficiency in German (or English for courses taught in English) to allow you to embark successfully on a course of study in Germany.

University Admission Eligibility

You will have to show proof of your university admission eligibility (e.g. school-leaving certificate qualifying you to study at German universities) when you apply for a course of study in Germany. Please consult the Information System for Foreign Educational Qualifications to find out whether your certificates make you eligible for direct entry to universities in Germany. Some applicants are required to attend an Academic Qualifying Course (Studienkolleg) before they can embark on a course of study in Germany. To find out whether you must first successfully attend the Academic Qualifying Course, please consult the Information System for Foreign Educational Qualifications and check your certificates. Should you have to attend, the application deadline closes earlier (see "application deadlines"). You apply for an Academic Qualifying Course via uni-assist (all courses of study). You will automatically be allocated to an Academic Qualifying Course (Studienkolleg) should you have to attend one. Click here for an overview of how undergraduate courses of study of JLU Giessen are assigned to the focus courses of the Academic Qualifying Course.

Important information on the APS application procedure for applicants from the People's Republic of China, Mongolia, Vietnam and India: For your application, you will also need the notification from the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) in your home country.

We kindly ask you to refrain from individual requests, as we have no influence on the order of processing.

You must submit the APS certificate via uni-assist as part of your application.

Applicants for human medicine or dentistry who are no German or EU citizens and who do not hold a German or EU university admission eligibility certificate and who therefore have to apply via uni-assist (see "application") may submit additional documents to their application in addition to the minimum application documents (see here) in order to improve the ranking of their application. Further information on the selection procedure and the restricted admission figures ("NC", numerus clausus) of the last semesters can be found here.
