The registration phase for the winter semester starts in September.
Registration for the evening courses starts on 15.09.2024.
About the evening courses
- We offer our evening courses from beginner level (A1) through levels A2, B1, B2, C1.1 to C1.2.
- Each course includes 52 teaching units (UE) in the winter semester and 48 in the summer semester.
- It is possible to start at any level.
- You can achieve 3 ECTS per course.
- Course sizes: min. 5, max. 25 participants.

Deadlines and dates
Winter term 2024/25:
- Registration period: 15.09.2024 to 09.10.2024
- Start of courses: 21.10.2024 / 22.10.2024
- End of courses: 12.02.2025 / 13.02.2025
- Course changes and cancellations are possible until the end of the 2nd week of the course.

- Visiting academics (and their relatives)
- Staff members (and their relatives)

Unfortunately, external individuals are not permitted to attend.The evening courses are not intended for VIP students.
If you belong to the group of VIP students, please register for a German course as part of the VIP programme.How much does the course cost?
We would like to inform you that the course fees have been increased starting winter semester 2023/24.
- The evening courses are free of charge for JLU-students and programme students (Erasmus+ etc.).
- Doctoral students, visiting scholars, staff members and their relatives and freemovers only pay a small fee for participation: in the winter semester € 198 for 52 teaching units (UE) and in the summer semester € 182 for 48 UE.
- In the event of withdrawal, please note the fee schedule.
Do I have to take a placement test?
The following participants do NOT have to take the placement test:
- Participants who already passed an evening course with us. Please send us your Leistungsschein.
If this does not apply to you, you must take the placement test. You can find more information about the placement test in the registration form.

The German evening courses are free of charge for JLU-students and programme students (Erasmus+ and others).
Doctoral students, visiting scholars and their relatives and freemovers only pay a small fee for participation:
- in the winter semester 198,- € for 52 units
- in the summer semester 182,- € for 48 units
The course fee is due in full upon confirmation of registration and must be transferred to the account of the Justus Liebig University Giessen no later than two weeks after receipt of the payment advice. The punctuality of payment is determined by the receipt of the fee on the university account. Should a participant miss the payment or not make it within the stated period, he or she will be deleted from the registration or participant list and will not be able to start the course.
Withdrawal

Withdrawal from evening courses is possible up to 10 days before the start of the course. The withdrawal must be declared in writing to the course office of the AAA. An administrative fee of 20% of the course fee will be retained or claimed. The timeliness of the withdrawal is determined by the receipt of the written declaration in the course office of the AAA.
