- 2009 – present W3 Professorship in English and American Literature and Cultural Studies at the JLU
- 2014 & 2016 Fellow at the Käte Hamburger Center for Advanced Study in the Humanities "Law as Culture" (University of Bonn and Federal Ministry of Education and Research)
- 2004 – 2008 University of Freiburg: Assistant professor under the auspices of a German Research Foundation grant for the project "Law, Norm and Criminalization"
- 2003 University of Basel: Guest lecturer in English Literary Studies
- 2002 – 2003 University of Bonn: Guest professor in American Studies
- 2001 University of Innsbruck: Guest lecturer in Social Psychology
- 2000 – 2002 University of Freiburg: Lecturer in English Literary and Cultural Studies
