64. GEWISOLA-Conference at JLU Giessen

The Centre for Sustainable Food Systems (ZNE) co-organised and co-designed the 64th GEWISOLA annual conference on ‘Innovative concepts for a future-oriented agricultural and food industry’. The event took place at Justus Liebig University from 25 to 27 September 2024. 

Highlights

 

Inspiring Keynote Presentations:

 

of Prof. Jennifer Clapp (University of Waterloo, Canada) on Corporate power and the struggle for sustainable food systems innovation; 

of Prof. Frank Ewert (ZALF, Germany) on Innovative concepts for the transformation of agricultural systems; 

and of Prof. Andreas Vilcinskas (JLU, Germany) on Insect farming for a Circular Bio-Economy in Controlled Environmental Agriculture.

 

 

Exciting Panel Discussions:

 

on the topic of "Academic publishing in transition - current challenges and future paths", with inputs from Arne Henningsen (University of Copenhagen), Silke Hüttel (University of Göttingen) and Ramona Teuber (ZNE, JLU); 

and on the topic of "Artificial intelligence in research and practice in the agricultural and food sector" organised and moderated by Martin Petrick (ZNE, JLU). 

 

 

Preconference Workshops - co-organised by the ZNE members: 

 

Ramona Teuber on the topic "Innovative consensus-building processes in agricultural and food policy";

Jasmin Godemann on the topic "Knowledge transfer to promote innovation through communication and consulting";                         

and Martin Petrick on the topic "Post-Soviet countries as laboratories for land use change analysis".
