The 64th annual conference of the Society for Economic and Social Sciences of Agriculture e.V. (GEWISOLA) is jointly organised by representatives of the Department 09 and the Center for Sustainable Food Systems of the Justus-Liebig University as well as the Department of Wine and Beverage Business of the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences.
The conference will take place from Wednesday, 25 September to Friday, 27 September 2024 at the Justus Liebig University (JLU) Giessen.
The conference topic is „Innovative concepts for a sustainable agricultural and food economy"
Innovations play a major role on the path to more sustainable agri-food systems. To meet the challenges of environmental and resource protection as well as the preservation of biodiversity, viable concepts are needed that help to build a more resilient agri-food system in times of climate change and other man-made crises. These aspects shall be considered and discussed at the conference from a wide variety of perspectives.

The Society for Economic and Social Sciences of Agriculture
founded in 1959, pursues the following goals:
- to promote teaching and research in the economic and social sciences of agriculture,
- to foster the exchange of scientific knowledge and experience between the members of the Society and with domestic and foreign institutions of a similar character and
- to serve the discussion of scientific problems.
The Society has about 400 members. They are mainly active in science at universities and research institutes, in administration, companies with the focus on agricultural science as well as in consultancy and practice as agricultural economists and sociologists.
