We are delighted to welcome our Planetary Times winter fellows, Aisling O’Carroll, Charlotte Wrigley and Lukáš Likavčan to the Panel! After our traditional welcome breakfast, the fellows took us through their plans for the Planetary Times Winter Workshop exciting workshop series, a window exhibition and a colloquium that are already in the making to take place in November.

O’Carroll (designer & researcher in landscape architecture) and Likavčan (philosopher and historian) are collaborating in realizing the Planetary Times Winter Workshop (28.-29.11.24) “Reading the Rocks & Stars” where they will take the participants on a journey of understanding the chronologies of planetary timescales of glaciers, soils and stars. The workshop will entail expert lectures, a stargazing experience, as well as an exercise in reading geological materials, such as, minerals and soils.

O’Carroll’s installation "The Temple of Science" (4.-11.11.24) reconstructs part of a research hut that was erected in 1840/41 amidst the Unteraar glacier in the window of Kunsthalle Giessen. More information can be found here.

Wrigley (human geographer specialized in Arctic environments) is collaborating with Christian Kosmas Mayer (receiver of the Panel’s publication fellowship) & Adam Searle (geographer at university of Nottingham) to realize a colloquium on the topics of “De-extinction, Coldness & Conservation” (26.-27.11.24). Concrete event invitations will be sent out in October - we look forward to an exciting and eventful year ahead with our fellows!
