Dr. Christiane Wiebel-Herboth (Honda Research Institute Europe) |
graduated with a Diploma degree in Psychology at the Eberhard Karls University Tübingen in 2010. Until 2013, she was a doctoral student at the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen where she received her PhD in 2013 on the topic of "Visual perception of materials and material properties". After a Post-Doctoral period at the TU Berlin, she joined the Honda Research Institute Europe in 2016 as a Senior Scientist. Christiane’s main research interests cover among others the investigation of tools and methods for improving human-machine interaction from a user perspective and what we can learn from studying gaze behavior in (active) tasks.

Investigating Eye Movement Measures in the Context of Human Machine Cooperation |
Today many intelligent systems do not act autonomously but operate in interaction with a human user. Recent HMI research has hypothesized that such an interaction between human and machine is best reached by designing the system to behave cooperatively. In this context, modelling the user is one important subtask and eye tracking measures are a popular tool. In this talk I will summarize some of our recent work on investigating eye movement measures for human machine cooperation. In particular, I will introduce the potential of a novel information theoretic approach on scan path data for the assessment of different user states. Furthermore, I will show some recent results on the role of eye and head movements in the context of real-world walk transitions.
