Becoming a parent is quite exciting, but it also poses lots of questions – especially when you are in a foreign country. In this session we want to provide you with a checklist containing important things you should take care of around the birth of your child – including information on employment law related aspects, financial support and child care options. Of course there will also be time to consult us with your individual questions and problems. In addition the session will give you the opportunity to get in contact with other (expectant) parents.

As the session is during lunch time you are invited to bring your lunch to the event.

Speaker: Katharina Naumann (GCSC) und Jessica Wilzek (International Office)

The session series gives early career researchers a possibility to approach specific challenges concerning the compatibility of family and career. During each meeting experts give information on a specific topic and there is time to discuss individual problems and ideas for solutions. The series was launched last semester by the three Giessen Graduate Centres and the Career Centre of the JLU. It is supported by the women’s representative. During the semester there is a meeting on every first Tuesday of the month from 12 – 2 pm in seminar room 316 (main building, Ludwigstr. 23)
