Digital Humanities act as an umbrella term encompassing an array of developing approaches and practices in different fields of humanities. Whether we regard them as a discipline of their own or as a cluster of related methodologies and tools, they developed into a dynamic and rapidly growing scholarly field. As a result, many fields of humanities benefit from the use of digital tools.

Digital Humanities aim to facilitate our research and expand its capacities by extending the tool-kits of traditional scholarship and, at the same time, building databases and digital archives for the broader public and future scholars to use. As the field expanded, it included not only computational analysis, but also the cultural study of digital technologies themselves, their creative potential and social impact, exploiting how digital tools inform our theories, source material and our research in general.

This workshop series concerns anyone who is interested in the basics of Digital Humanities, as well as future engagement in the field. The first part of the workshop series will outline a range of relevant topics in the field and introduce theoretical and methodological considerations. The second part will provide practical training in some of the basic Digital Humanities technologies (TEI and network analysis). After the completed workshop series, the participants will be able to critically evaluate the possibilities of the field, as well as the existing projects. They will also be able to conceptualize the ways in which digital tools might be beneficial for their own research projects and/or research practices.
