This workshop, designed for doctoral candidates at all stages of their study and postdocs, brings an experienced acquisitions editor from De Gruyter to the GCSC to discuss the complete process of preparing and submitting a book proposal. In addition to specific information on writing a successful proposal, an accompanying cover letter and a CV, the workshop will address a wide range of issues. Every author should consider which chapter(s) to send, how many acquiring editors to contact and how to develop a network of contacts in the field of publishing.

The workshop will combine a lecture, some group work and the opportunity to obtain individual feedback. There will be a limited number of individual coaching sessions available. Please email Jill Grinager at jill.grinager@gcsc.uni-giessen.de to sign up on a first come, first served basis for individual coaching. If you wish to have an abstract or a proposal for a potential book critiqued as part of the individual coaching session, please be prepared to send this material one week in advance of the session.
