Research Areas

The groups in our institute are mainly working on RNA viruses of veterinary importance. We use state-of-the-art methods of Virology and Molecular Biology to characterize and diagnose viruses, develop vaccines, and study pathogenesis and innate immunity. Currently in the focus are the acutely-infecting coronaviruses (e.g. Feline Infectious Peritonitis virus, Porcine Coronaviruses), bunyaviruses (Rift Valley fever virus, La Crosse virus), and influenza virus, and the persistently infecting Borna virus.
