Linda Witt
Linda Witt Veterinarian Professorship for Laboratory Animal Science and Animal Welfare |
Short CV
Linda Witt studied veterinary medicine at Justus Liebig University and obtained her license in early 2022. The practical training during her rotation ignited her interest in veterinary medicine and paved the way for her professional focus on animal welfare. As a doctoral candidate in the Chair of Laboratory Animal Science and Animal Welfare and a project collaborator at ICAR3R, her work since 2022 has concentrated on the area of breed-specific suffering, with an emphasis on the underlying genetics. In particular, her research focuses on diseases in purebred dogs that arise from traits associated with breeding for suffering, which also serves as the subject of her dissertation project. In addition to her project work, she is involved in teaching. As a recipient of the graduate scholarship from JLU, she holds a relatively small position in terms of time and is pursuing studies in human medicine alongside her dissertation and work since 2022.
