DFG project: The influence of polyploidy on mutation rates in Brassica species

The central hypothesis of this project is the idea that polyploidisation and polyploidy should influence mutation rate. Mutation rate is a decisive parameter in evolution and breeding research. Based on past results we assume that mutation rate will dramatically increase due to polyploidy and hybridisation. In this project, we want to quantify mutation rate in diploid and polyploid Brassica species. Hereby, we also want to study the influence of structural variation on SNP generation.
