Alisher Kosimov joined JLU as a PhD candidate of the International PhD Program for Agricultural Economics, Bioeoconomy and Rural Development in the Department of Agricultural Policy and Market Research in October 2019. He holds a Master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Pannonia, Hungary (2012) and a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the Technological University in Khujand, Tajikistan (2009). Prior to joining JLU, he worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Institute of Livestock of the Tajik Academy of Agricultural Sciences. In addition, he has working experience in various international research and development projects (supported by WB, ADB, GIZ, IFAD, ICARDA, FAO etc.) on rural and agriculture sector development.
His current PhD research focuses on sustainable livestock sector development, his research covers value chain, food security, pasture management systems and mitigation of climate change in the region.
