KoMBi—Kollektive Modelle zur Förderung der Biodiversität
Restoring biodiversity in agricultural landscapes requires coordinated action by multiple stakeholders, including farmers and local governments. The goal of this project is to establish a cooperative network among farmers and local German municipalities to plan and implement agri-environmental-climate measures on farms. Coordinated implementation of these strategies is expected to protect biodiversity by strengthening spatial and temporal networks across agricultural landscapes. As part of this collective, farmers will work together to submit applications for funding, reducing the effort and risk that is normally assumed by an individual farmer.
The project is currently implemented in three model regions—Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg and Hesse—and will be expanded to include additional regions. Lessons learned from these collective models will be used to design and optimize policy instruments at the German and EU level aimed at protecting agricultural biodiversity.
