First JAGUAR Project Meeting in Japan
From the 3rd to the 9th of September 2012 the JAGUAR Project team members Stefan Hotes and Fred Jopp visited Japan for the first meeting with members of the partner projects in Japan. Talks were held at the University of Tokyo, and a workshop was organized at the National Institute of Environmental Studies in Tsukuba. The stay in Tokyo was also used for a meeting with reprentatives of the Office of the German Academic Exchange Service to extend the network of contacts for the JAGUAR Project. After the meetings in the Tokyo Area the project study region in Kuromatsunai in southern Hokkaido was visited. A workshop was held to determine the next steps in the collaboration, and a symposium was organized together with the administration of the Town of Kuromatsunai in order to introduce the JAGUAR Project to local stakeholders. Andreas Kirchner of the science department of the German Embassy in Japan participated in the meetings in Kuromatsunai and delivered official greetings.
