Inversum
A performer, a dancer and the universe. The endlessly large is mirrored in the endlessly small. Between them lies a water basin, around which the audience sits as if attending a ritual. The acoustic intensity of the dance performance INVERSUM directs ears and eyes towards the heavens. But for director Isabella Roumiantsev this is neither sublime nor harmonious, but rather dissociative, arrhythmic, twisted, and paranoid: “Scattered into innumerable particles, the cosmic body seeks out its integrity as an endlessly vast space, which stretches outwards beyond itself. In a billion year's cycle it suffocates in its own void and gives birth to itself, over and over again. Substance, identity, space and time are inverted and distorted in its restless sleep. The cosmos pursues its own paradox into a reality, in which it can decipher itself.”

Kolleg zur Wiederentdeckung des Klassenbewusstseins
People fight against racism, for the rights of women and against capitalism. But these struggles often appear separated from each other and a fundamental solidarity is missing. How can the demands of factory workers, the self-employed, the refugees, the unemployed, the demands of those working in the household, etc., be formulated in such a way that their particular interests become a collective fight? In a series of talks in Frankfurt am Main, Mannheim and Berlin, ongoing project is looking for a contemporary ›class consciousness‹ together with trade unions, strikers, prostitutes, journalists, professors, blind organizations, economic experts etc. The series of talks is an artistic research. The results of this research will be shown in a final performance in September 2017.

The Pop-Up-Culture-House is part of Carte Blanche’s project KUNSTEN AT LYTTE, the theatre’s contribution to Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017. Miss Yellow and Me - I wanna be a musical
Olivia Hyunsin Kim delights in rubbing artistic genres and physical techniques the wrong way. Be it postmodern dance, aerobics, minimal art and hard rock, pop or high culture – this young choreographer is interested in the stereotypes and clichés caused by various forms of expression and the power imbalances that they perpetuate between Us and the Others. Kim’s special perspective takes its strength from experiences being German-Korean. In her newest piece, she takes on one of the most popular genres: the musical. Inspired by “Miss Saigon” – one of the most successful shows on Broadway and one, which has simultaneously provoked numerous controversies on the representation of Asian women, she has created a musical talent show that is both grotesque and entertaining.

MONTAGEETÜDEN
I have had the strangest dream. I was a vendor of glimpses and appearances. I collected them first, then resold them. In my dream I had just revealed a secret. Did it all by myself. I revealed the mystery of entering the interior of anything I gazed upon. Being inside, I understood how to rearrange things. It was just as easy as opening a wardrobe door. Well, well. But when I woke up, I couldn’t remember how I made it happen – I had forgotten how to enter the interior of things. (Zitat Stücktext)

MY HANDS. MY MOTHER’s
MY HANDS. MY MOTHER’s
What remains of somebody? Twenty-three boxes full of objects lost their owner and those objects have an afterlife.
They say memory is a silly dog – you throw a stick to it but it brings back something else. Memories are fragile, sometimes illogical, incoherent, irrevocably incomplete. Yet now, of all that city, I remember only a woman I casually met. There are shadows that surround me, daughter shadows of rigid furniture. They haunt me here in the sun, but they are people. Using these memories is the only way to finish a conversation between two people who will never speak again.
We explore the capacity of objects to recall certain situations. Somehow living is to be other. Seeing is being distant and seeing clearly is to stop. Definitely, to analyse is to be a foreigner. It is as if I found an old portrait, of me, undoubtedly, with a different stature, unknown features, but indisputably mine, dreadfully me. Life is as if we were beaten with it. We will for sure meet again at some party.

Orpheus Moments
»Orfeo« constitutes the beginning of opera – multiple adaptations have upgraded the impact of opera as an art formand still influence the contemporary music theatre up to the present. However, Orpheus is not only a topos of music history but also the prototype of the musician and artist, an allegory of the human capability to create permanent things, to widen and to go beyond one's own world. His chant accomplishes emancipation, his individual skills disabuse himself from the rules of his environment. In that way he is also a predecessor of the modern subject. He plays his lyre, and he plays with the gods until his most human skill – to doubt – thwarts his plans. By turning around, changing his direction, he is deflected from all given paths. In the more than fifty surviving musical versions of the Orpheus myth throughout the history of opera this turning-around of Orpheus has been motivated quite diversely. It is also the pivot of this new interpretation.
The result of his doubts is again the loss of his beloved – as Ovid wrote: »And he, unhappy man, stretching out his arms to hold her and be held, clutched at nothing but the receding air.« But the motivation is a different, a new one, that shall not be told yet.

Pigeon 3
Pigeon celebrates the possibility of something. It´s a series and it consists of two parts: Interfacing fiction and reality of a collective emergence of bodies, a speaking screen is talking you through the first part. The second part is ever-changing - it made a fusion of pigeon egg and punching bag filled with softness in the first edition and a giant slide that flooded the space with pink lubricant in the second edition. See what this automaton for the praise of fluidity brings next.
