Programme Description

The Sprachpraxis programme consists of two modules, an introductory module and an advanced module, each consisting of up to three or (exceptionally) four courses (A1, A2, A3, A4).

What courses you take, and when, depends on your degree option (BA major, BA minor, Lehramt Gymnasium, etc). For details, please consult the study plan (Studienverlaufsplan) for your degree programme below. Please be mindful of the fact that some courses are only available in either the summer or winter term, not both. Being aware of this helps you choose the right courses at the right time, avoiding unnecessary delays in your studies.

Introductory Module

Grammar is designed to solidify and extend students’ knowledge of, and communicative competence in, core areas of the English language system, the focus being on the grammar of the verb phrase. The General Language Course is an integrated skills course designed to boost students’ communicative competence in the four skills (speaking, writing, listening, reading), with a special focus on academic discourse.

On the basis of these first two courses, the Reading & Writing I course is geared to developing students’ writing skills.

Advanced Module

Within this module, the following courses are currently offered: Speaking & Listening I, Speaking & Listening II, Reading & Writing II.
