Professorship of Microsociology and Methods of Qualitative Social Research

The Chair of Sociology with a focus on “Methods of International Comparative Social Research” is responsible for teaching the basics of empirical social research methods and statistics. Together with the Chair of Methods in Political Science, it serves both the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses in social sciences and is also involved in the supervision of doctoral students. In terms of content, research focuses on interethnic relations (e.g. individual and contextual conditions of threat perceptions, prejudices & interethnic contacts). From an empirical perspective, quantitative, often interculturally comparative data is predominantly - but not exclusively - used, which is analyzed using methods such as multi-level structural equation models.
