Postdoc (m/f/d) in the field of Applied Entomologie

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis the position is temporary with the opportunity for own scientific qualification at the Chair of Applied Entomology, Department of Insect Biotechnology at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Ecotrophology and Environmental Management. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

As long as the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract is not exceeded, you will be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension for up to another 3 years is possible under the above-mentioned condition.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Opportunity for own academic and didactic qualification, activities in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
  • Taking on teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen. The range of teaching tasks covers all areas of entomology at the Institute of Insect Biotechnology
  • Collaboration in the main research areas of the Chair of Applied Entomology at the Institute of Insect Biotechnology, in particular collaboration in the areas of animal toxins, biodiversity research biological pest control or environmental genomics
  • Undertaking scientific activities in the field of insect biotechnology in cooperation with other working groups and research institutions
  • Scientific and technical management of a project within entomological research of the site/laboratory management working group

Your qualifications and competences

  • Completed Master‘s or equivalent university degree in Biology, agricultural sciences or a comparable specialisation and relevant doctorate
  • Profound knowledge of applied entomology is desirable; applicants with excellent expertise in mole­cular, genome, evolutionary and population biology, biodiversity research are preferred; knowledge of insect taxonomy is an advantage
  • Expertise in the field of insect biotechnology is desired
  • Excellent experience in guiding scientific work and independent research, proven by publications as well as extensive teaching experience in entomological modules and experience in the supervision of final theses (Bachelor, Master, dissertations) are prerequisite
  • Good didactic skills and presentations at national and international conferences
  • Independent publication of research results
  • Independent drafting of third-party funding applications
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills are essential due to the international research environment is essential
