Research associate (m/f/d)
in the field of Intercultural Communication and Business

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis at the Chair of Intercultural Communication and Business, Department of English at the Faculty of Language, Literature, Culture with the opportunity for own academic qualification. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

As long as the permissible maximum duration of fixed-term employment is not exceeded, you will be employed for an initial period of 3 years. An extension of up to 2 years (or three years if you have a doctorate at the time of recruitment) is possible under the above-mentioned condition. Applications from people with a strong international academic background are particularly encouraged.

Your tasks at a glance

  • Conduct research at the interface of two or more of the following areas: intercultural communication, international/political communication, cultural anthropology, intercultural management, migration and diaspora studies, – with a focus on China and Asia
  • Assume teaching duties according to the teaching obligation regulation of the state of Hesse (currently 2 hours per week), including examination duties and student supervision
  • Involve in the establishment and further development of national and international research collaborations
  • Contribute to the research projects of the research team; scientific services in research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
  • Assist the chair with academic self-administration

Your qualifications and competences

  • A completed master´s degree in social sciences or humanities with a focus on the above-mentioned research areas
  • A completed doctorate is desirable, but not a prerequisite
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and conscientious
  • High-quality awareness and reliability
  • Demonstrated ability for excellence in qualitative and/or quantitative social research
  • Native or near-native fluency in English in both spoken and written form, German language skills: Level B1 (Proof of sufficient German language skills must be submitted within 3 years), Chinese language skills are a plus
  • Strong interest in and commitment to interdisciplinary research and international collaboration
