Student Assistant (m/f/d)

 

To support the Chair of Public Law and International Law (Prof. Dr. Thilo Marauhn) at the Faculty of Law in the research project Dynamics of Security, we are looking for a

Student Assistant (f/m/d)

The working time is at least 20 hours per month.

The research project will focus on implementation of international law, specifically international humanitarian law through the usage of human rights mechanisms. A special focus will be on the work of commissions of inquiry and fact-finding missions established by the United Nations Human Rights Council. The research will primarily focus on situations of armed conflicts in the cases of Syria, Libya, Ethiopia, Palestine and Ukraine.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the context of research on specific issues of international law with a focus on international humanitarian law including literature review, desk research, content and editorial revision of texts
  • Organizational and administrative support

Your profile:

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Previous experience as a student assistant is desirable
  • Above-average academic performance in the course of previous studies (at least three semesters)
  • Interested in international law in particular international humanitarian law and international human rights law.
  • Proficiency in Arabic, Russian or Ukrainian is highly desirable

We offer an insight into controversial international law topics, with a focus on the law of armed conflict. There would be possibilities to publish articles or blog posts on the topic and in cooperation with the team.
