New Events for JLU Alumni

To bring the idea of an alumni community to life, various events for Alumni are organised and the Alumni Service is involved in university events. Last month, for example, alumni explored the “Guest Gifts from around the World” exhibition in the Universtiy Main Building as part of a guided tour. JLU has maintained relationships with universities from all over the world for many decades. In total, there are agreements of various kinds with more than 100 universities, eight of which are partner universities. These contacts are linked to visits by delegations and the exchange of gifts. An interdisciplinary project seminar has set itself the task of cataloguing the objects stored in the university archive and designing an exhibition.  Very different objects were presented during the delegation visits: From customised handicrafts such as an hand-painted ostrich egg or a handwritten document to mascots, such as the ‘Seneca’ goat from the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, to commemorative plaques and pennants. 

 

As part of the Open Campus Day in June, three former students spoke about their experiences during their studies and when starting their careers. Thus, they provided prospective students with insights from their time at JLU and career development.

Further events are being planned to bring alumni together across disciplines and generations as well as to connect students and alumni. On December 4th Alumni and Career Services are providing an opportunity for networking for Students and Alumni. This is part of a course on business etiquette and networking offered by JLU Career Services. After short keynotes on current business and career topics there will be plenty of time to talk over snacks and drinks. The event will be held in German, you can find more information here.

For 2025 Alumni Service is planning events for JLU’s international alumni which will be held online and in English.

Further, Alumni are also cordially invited to the Faculty Club on Tuesday evenings during the semester. This is a joint programme of the GHG and the JLU.
