Information Event: Funding Opportunities of the DFG and VolkswagenStiftung for Postdocs
In this online informational event, you will have the opportunity to obtain in-depth information on the topic of acquiring third-party funding. Representatives of both the German Research Foundation (DFG) and VolkswagenStiftung will present comprehensive overviews of their funding programmes. Afterwards, we continue with a panel discussion on the topic of "Academic (Grant) Writing with AI".
About
Successful careers in academia are almost inseparably linked to the successful acquisition of third-party funding. Finding, applying for and being given the "right" type of grant can be a tremendous boon to any researcher's career. But how does one navigate the sprawling landscape of academic funding? How does one determine which programme is suitable for the current or next step in their career?
To answer these questions — and related ones — we are hosting a digital informational event on June 26, 2024 from 1.00 pm to 3.45 pm.
In the first part of the event, representatives of the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the VolkswagenStiftung will present their institutions and research funding offers for postdocs, providing insights into how you can identify the right offer for your career station and successfully acquire funding for your own postdoc research project.
In the second part of the event we host a panel discussion on the role of AI in academia also with regard to grant writing. Together with panellists from the DFG, VolkswagenStiftung, Universität Marburg, HessenHub, and TwentyOne Skills we will discuss how artificial intelligence is transforming the landscape and practices of academic writing, what challenges this provides, and how the use of different AI models is viewed by the industry, universities, and funding institutions.
