9. Ecology and Global Change

Welcome
Interaction of global change and ecological feedbacks are manifold and complex. They include, loss of biodiversity, change of carbon and nitrogen turnover processes in soils causing altered trace gas emission patterns, and altered water resources which are rapidly diminishing in some areas while other areas are increasingly prone to floods. The curriculum accounts for the multidisciplinarity required to study and improve our understanding of the intrinsic complexity. Experts from agriculture, biology, environmental sciences, and geography contribute to the broad perspective needed to investigate the interactions on a mechanistic level.
