Research interests I am a historian of medicine and the biomedical sciences with a focus on the 20th century. Current projects deal with the history of brain research by the German Kaiser Wilhelm Society (now Max Planck Society) on victims of Nazi persecution, and, more generally, the history and ethics of human subject research. Another project focuses on the interrrelations between eugenics and medical genetics. I am a member (and until September 2021 co-chair) of the Lancet Commission on Medicine, Nazism, and the Holocaust. |
