B4: The role of the inflammatory lung microenvironment in the transition of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis to lung cancer (Prof. Savai Pullamsetti, Dr. Turkowski)
Subproject B4 investigates the hypothesis that immune cell changes in the lung tissue of IPF patients are causal for the development of lung tumours. Comprehensive immunocellular profiling of patient samples and mouse models will be used to identify and validate pathomechanistically relevant immune cell populations as potential targets for preventive or therapeutic measures.
