A2: The metabolic control of lung carcinomas and metastases by the lung microenvironment (Prof. Acker)
Subproject A2 focuses on mechanisms of metabolic α-ketoglutarate (αKG) homeostasis and the role of αKG-dependent dioxygenases (prolylhydoxylases, epigenetic regulators such as Teneleven translocation (TET), and Jumonji C (JmjC)- proteins), which control the interaction of tumor cells with the organ microenvironment as sensors and mediators of environmental signals. The focus of the analyses is the identification of αKG-dependent mechanisms of tumor cell adaptation to the lung microenvironment in the context of intra-pulmonary dissemination and lung metastasis.
