Statutes French-German Summer School for the Promotion of Veterinary Science
- §1. Purpose of the French-German Summer School for the Promotion of Veterinary Science (FGSVS) is to promote the scientific development of highly qualified trainees to foster and to stimulate research and research collaboration between the Establishments of Veterinary Education teaching in French and the Establishments of Veterinary Education teaching in German as listed in §10.
- §2. A Summer School is defined as a period of a minimum of 1 week up to a maximum of 2 weeks. It is technically organised in turn by one of the establishments listed in §10. The organising establishment makes the necessary reservations for housing of the participating trainees and instructors. It further provides all technical facilities to meet the course-program.
- §3. It is the privilege of the organising establishment to develop the course-program. All other establishments are expected to provide the necessary support. Travel expanses of instructors coming from one of the participating establishments are covered by the delegating establishment. All teaching is in English, however, general communication should also be in French and in German.The course-program must be posted/announced at least 9 months ahead of time.
- §4. The number of participating trainees is limited to a maximum of 24 students. Each establishment may nominate up to two trainees.
- §5. Trainees are recruited from the group of postgraduate students with an excellent academic record. On an exceptional basis also undergraduate students engaged in research and showing excellent study records can be accepted. Participation in the FGSVS is fully accredited according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) with 23 – 30 working hours amounting up to 1 credit point.
- §6. Registration fees for trainees are covered by the delegating establishment. They include cost of courses, for coffee/tea breaks and lunch. A trainee may get further support from the delegating establishment based on individual regulations.
- §7. To handle financial matters and to organize cooperation a “point of coordination” is established on the French and German speaking side. It is with the Director General d’Oniris, Nantes, on the French speaking side and the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Justus-Liebig University Giessen, on the German speaking side. A responsible coordinator will be nominated by the Director/Dean. Both sides will develop a specific budget to allow for further expenditure not covered by the regulations of §6.
- §8. Participating establishment will meet once a year on the occasion of the EAEVE General Assembly. Organization and preparation of the agenda is a matter of the two coordinators.
- §9. The establishments agree on a trial period of 5 years. There after a new decision on the continuation of the FGSVS has to be made.
