Ljudevit Luka Boštjančić is working as a PhD candidate on the GEODE project. His project focuses on gaining a better understanding of the immune response in Decapoda. To achieve this goal, he is conducting comparative analysis of the immune response genes to determine their evolution. Furthermore, the project focuses on the host-pathogen relationship between native A. astacus and Ap. astaci, to classify and characterize genes responsible for mediating the immune memory response. Based on the original transcriptomic framework, the aim is to characterise the difference in the immune of Ap. astaci challenged crayfish. Based on the results of the RNAseq analysis, the further aim is to characterise the course of the immune response genes expression. To complement the transcriptomic approach, we are analysing the changes in the classical immunological markers on the histological and pathophysiological level.
