Dr. Sebastian Ahles |
Research |
Sebastian studied chemistry at the University of Basel and received his M. Sc. in 2013, working on the topic of thioether protected gold-nanoparticles in the group of Prof. Dr. Marcel Mayor. For his Ph.D he joined the group of Prof. Dr. Hermann Wegner in Gießen and investigated domino inverse electron-demand Diels–Alder reactions catalysed by a bidentate Lewis Acid and obtained his degree in 2019. He joined the research group of Dr. Urs Gellrich and worked on 3D coordination frameworks of frustrated and classic Lewis Pairs for the activation of small molecules. |
Dr. Ravindra Phatake |
Research |
Ravindra studied organic chemistry at the University of Pune (India) where he received his Bachelor and Master. For his doctorate (PhD), he moved to CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. During his PhD, he worked on metal-free oxidations and Ir-catalyzed C-H activation annulation reactions. After that, he moved to Israel for postdoctoral research at Ben-Gurion University (BGU) of the Negev. At BGU, he worked on design and synthesis of latent ruthenium benzylidene sulfur-chelated/phosphite complexes for visible-light-induced olefin metathesis. He joined the research group of Dr. Urs Gellrich in September 2021 as postdoctoral research associate where he investigated the activation of small molecules with metal-free systems. |

Dr. Max Hasenbeck |
Research |
Max studied chemistry at the University of Cologne where he received his B.Sc in 2015. For his graduate studies he moved to the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf where he obtained his M.Sc in 2017, working on the investigation of reaction mechanisms with computational methods in the group of PD Dr. Martin Breugst at the University of Cologne. He joined the research group of Dr. Urs Gellrich in 2017 and obtained his Ph.D for the investigation of metal free catalysis using a pyridonate borane complex and carboboration reactions of alkynes and allenes. Awards and Recognition 2012 GDCh-Award for the best high-school graduation in Chemistry |
Dr. Tizian Müller |
Research |
Tizian studied chemistry at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen and received his B.Sc. in 2016. He joined the research group of Dr. Urs Gellrich in 2018 and obtained his M.Sc., working on the activation of molecular hydrogen through self-association of frustrated Lewis pairs experimentally and computationally. |
