Leitung der Professur

Andreas studied Biochemistry in Hannover prior to moving to the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg, Germany, where he investigated the molecular mechanism of T cell death to complete his PhD thesis. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, he discovered his passion for the early events during the life of an emerging T cell, which have become the focus of his research ever since. Between 2007 and 2015 he was first Emmy-Noether Research Group Leader and later Associate Professor for Regenerative Immunology at the Institute of Immunology and the Cluster of Excellence REBIRTH at Hannover Medical School, Germany. There, he started to investigate the role of non-coding RNAs during T-cell development and focused on spatio-temporal dynamics of pre-thymic and intra-thymic steps of T cell formation in health and disease. From 2015 to 2022, he continued his work as Associate Professor for Molecular Immunology at the Institute of Molecular Medicine at Goethe University Frankfurt. Since April 2022 Andreas is Chair of Molecular Immunology at the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry of JLU.
