Hot Systems Biology Applied

Hot Systems Biology Applied – Sulfolobus acidocaldarius as a new archaeal, thermoacidophiles chassis for industrial biotechnology - Bioinformatics software development, data analysis and data management

HotSysAPP will contribute to the bioeconomy by exploiting the much neglected biotechnological potential of the Archaea. The project goal is to provide improved engineered strains with innovative potential in consolidated bioprocessing (CBP) (targeting bioprocessing, down-stream processing) and innovative application in fermentation and biocatalytic processes (biodetector) as well as new “extremozyme” systems (enzyme cascades).

For the optimization of designed strains a model-based systems biology data driven approach will be used, employing state of the art transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, modelling, genetics, biochemistry and enzyme engineering.

This project aims to develop novel bioinformatic methods and software tools to analyze the high-throughput data with a special focus on the evaluation of data from global gene expression studies conducted using RNA-Seq.
