Research

My collaborators and I aim to understand the mechanisms behind the evolutionary adaptations in arthropods, including spiders and insects. We specifically focus on how these organisms acquire novel traits, such as wings and silk production. By analyzing their genetic makeup, we explore gene duplication and its effects on trait development. Our approach combines comparative genomic analyses and advanced methodologies to uncover the regulatory mechanisms that determine the retention or loss of duplicated genes and their impact on phenotypic traits. Through this research, we aim to enhance the broader understanding of evolutionary dynamics in arthropods and their diverse adaptations.
