Einladung Munich Climate School 2024

Liebe Studierende,

wir freuen uns, Sie heute auf die Munich Climate School 2024 aufmerksam machen zu können.

„It was a real pleasure and privilege to learn from all the interdisciplinary experts and researchers. We look forward to help distributing this knowledge further (…)“. Dies war nur eine der vielen Reaktionen auf die Klimaschule („Munich Climate School“) im vergangenen Jahr, die uns motivieren, das erfolgreiche und zukunftsversprechende Format an der LMU fortzusetzen.

Die Klimaschule wurde 2021 als interdisziplinäre einwöchige Lehrveranstaltung gegründet und beinhaltet Vorträge von über 30 renommierten Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern aus den verschiedensten Disziplinen der LMU. Das Programm besteht aus regulären Impuls- und Großvorträgen, sowie Praxismodulen, wie z.B. Podiumsdiskussionen, Exkursionen in den Englischen Garten sowie Experimenten in Natur und Technik. Gemeinsame kulinarische Erlebnisse sowie Ausflüge runden das Programm ab und bieten wichtige Vernetzungsmöglichkeiten für Studierende untereinander. Wir sind sehr stolz, auch dieses Jahr wieder neue Forschungsbereiche dazugewonnen zu haben, darunter die Kunstwissenschaften und die Physik. Natürlich ist auch das beliebte COP-Simulationsspiel, bei welchem die Studierenden in die Rolle von Diplomaten und Diplomatinnen schlüpfen werden, wieder Teil des Programms. Der Erfolg der bisherigen Klimaschulen wurde 2023 am Tag für gute Lehre an der LMU durch die Vergabe des LMU Lehrinnovationspreises belohnt (s. hier: LMU Lehrinnovationspreis <https://www.lmu.de/de/newsroom/newsuebersicht/news/tag-fuer-gute-lehre-an-der-lmu-preise-fuer-innovative-lehre-und-studentische-forschung-2.html> ). Wir freuen uns nach wie vor sehr über diese besondere Auszeichnung!

Die Munich Climate School 2024 findet vom 7. bis 12. Oktober statt. Eine Teilnahme ist vor Ort in München an der LMU oder aber per Zoom möglich. Studierende, die vor Ort in München teilnehmen, erhalten im Anschluss ein Zertifikat, das die Beteiligung bescheinigt.

This Quote captures just a fraction of the reactions garnered from last year’s Munich Climate School, fueling our commitment to sustain and evolve this impactful and promising initiative at the LMU.

The Climate School, first launched in 2021, is an interdisciplinary one-week course featuring lectures by over 30 esteemed scientists from a wide range of disciplines at LMU. The program includes keynote lectures, major lectures and practical modules such as panel discussions, excursions to the English Garden and hands-on experiments in nature and technology. Joint culinary experiences and excursions round off the program and provide excellent networking opportunities for students. This year, we are excited to expand the Munich Climate School to include new research areas such as art sciences and physics. The popular COP simulation game, where students step into the role of diplomats, remains a key part of the program.

The success of our previous climate schools was recognized in 2023 during the Day for Good Teaching at LMU, where we were honored to receive the LMU Teaching Innovation Prize (see here: LMU Lehrinnovationspreis <https://www.lmu.de/de/newsroom/newsuebersicht/news/tag-fuer-gute-lehre-an-der-lmu-preise-fuer-innovative-lehre-und-studentische-forschung-2.html> )! We continue to cherish this special recognition.

The Munich Climate School 2024 will take place from October 7th to 12th. Participation is possible both on-site at LMU in Munich and via Zoom. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate acknowledging their participation.
